Larry hosts a debate on autism with a panel that includes parents, doctors and policy makers.
On one side (from left): Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, parents to Jenny's son, Evan, who has recovered from autism.
Dr. Jerry Kartzinel, a paediatrician who is also a father to a child with autism. Dr. Kartzinel is the co-author of the New York Times #7 bestseller, Healing and Preventing Autism: A Complete Guide.
J.B. Handley, co-founder of Generation Rescue, which has just released several important reports on vaccines.
On the other side of the ring:
Dr. Margaret Fisher, paediatric infectious disease consultant and Chair of the Children's Hospital, Monmouth Medical Center.
Dr. Max Wiznitzer, paediatric neurologist and expert witness for the government against the families who file in the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
Dr. Bernadine Healy, former director of the NIH (National Institutes of Health), which funds research studies.
I thought it was interesting that even before the show started, there was a plug: "This programme was brought to you by Johnson & Johnson." What is J&J's interest in this program? Don't they just make baby shampoo? No... Johnson & Johnson is part of a coalition of Big Pharma which is pushing for the Hepatitis B vaccine to be made mandatory on the first day of life. (Seriously, your child might otherwise get a sexually transmitted disease the day after he's born? Can't it wait?) Vaccines have been implicated in causing autism in many cases and vaccine sales have fallen.
Some of the debaters keep intoning, "Vaccines are safe, vaccines are safe." This show is sponsored by Big Pharma. Hmm...
Larry King also has a blog exclusive by J.B. Handley: Autism is Preventable and Reversible.
